Build your own West Greenland Kayak in a 9-day workshop on Washington Island!

June 10 – 19, 2010

Join Mark Rogers, Master Builder of Superior Kayaks,
and let him assist you in building an authentic skin kayak.

If you are a paddler that revels in tradition, the sight of a “skin on frame” kayak is sure to make your heart beat faster.  Each kayak is custom built following ancient tradition to the paddler's physical proportions and paddling requirements.

Pegged and lashed together, this kayak, fast and seaworthy, is a pleasure to own and paddle.
Your kayak will be a form of self-expression and provide you with the opportunity to study this style of construction.

Your Greenland kayak will measure approximately three times your height and be as wide as your hips plus two fists.

Mark Rogers has studied under Svend Ulstrup, Europe’s most accomplished skin kayak builder. Mark is one of the few American craftsmen capable of building traditional sky kayaks to such high standards and is dedicated to preserving these ancient techniques.
